October 31, 2018 | Spiral Lift
Excess fat around your thighs can be a huge source of embarrassment. It may mean you avoid wearing shorts or bathing suits in public, or that you’re more self-conscious during intimate encounters. For many, diet and exercise are just not enough to help trim and tone the thighs. This can leave you feeling discouraged and lacking the confidence you desire. However, addressing your concerns with a surgical procedure means that you can regain your confidence and your figure all at once! Traditionally, when a patient was looking to address this area, a thighplasty was the go-to procedure. However, Dr. Agullo offers a spiral lift. Though relatively new, it provides many of the same results with some additional benefits.
What’s the Difference Between a Thighplasty and Spiral Lift?
Though the goal of both procedures is the same, the approach is different. Thighplasty, the traditional procedure, focuses on the inner and outer thighs. A spiral lift includes these areas, but it also addresses the front and back of the thighs. It can include the buttocks and lower abdomen as well and is sometimes classified as a cross between a thigh lift and a buttock lift.
The Spiral Lift Procedure
You will meet with Dr. Agullo for a pre-surgical consultation. It is during this appointment that you will discuss your overall treatment goals, and Dr. Agullo will recommend the procedure that is most appropriate for you. He offers multiple techniques for a thigh lift, and the spiral lift is just one option.
On the day of surgery, Dr. Agullo will meet with you prior to your procedure and mark your legs to indicate the areas targeted for liposuction and excision. This procedure can target not just the legs, but the surrounding areas such as the groin, buttocks, and lower abdomen.
Dr. Agullo will make an incision across your groin area. He will use liposuction to remove fat as well as any excess tissue from specific treatment sites. He will contour the legs before gently stretching the skin over the new shape and excising any excess skin.
What Will Recovery Be Like?
Immediately following your surgery, you will rest in the recovery room at our surgical center. You will need to rest for at least a few days after your procedure. Avoid driving or other activities requiring focus until at least 72 hours after your procedure. This allows your body to process the anesthesia.
Swelling and bruising are completely normal, and these will subside over the first few days and weeks. Be sure to take it easy during this time, or you may extend your recovery period. Your body needs time to heal!
