October 28, 2024 | Gluteal Fat Grafting
We’re thrilled to announce that our manuscript, Multidisciplinary Experience for Gluteal Fat Grafting, led by Dr. Frank Agullo, also known as “Dr. WorldWide,” has been published in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery! This internationally renowned journal, the Official Journal of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, is a prestigious platform for advancements in the field. Being featured here is a proud milestone, underscoring our dedication to pushing the boundaries of patient safety and innovation.
NEW INSIGHTS INTO THE SAFETY OF GLUTEAL FAT GRAFTING
Gluteal fat grafting, or the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), is widely sought for its natural contouring effects. However, safety concerns have historically limited its appeal. Our study brings encouraging news, showing that BBL is far safer than previously believed when refined techniques are used. By analyzing cases in which surgeons adhered to subcutaneous fat injections—placing fat under the skin rather than in the muscle—we found a significant decrease in severe risks, particularly pulmonary fat embolism (PFE).
This shift to subcutaneous-only injections has been transformative. Our findings show that BBL, when performed with this refined approach, greatly minimizes risks without compromising results. Notably, there were no PFE cases when injections were strictly limited to the subcutaneous layer, underscoring a substantial improvement in safety. This approach minimizes the risk of fat inadvertently entering the bloodstream, historically a key concern in BBL procedures.
DR. WORLDWIDE’S COMMITMENT TO OPTIMAL SAFETY WITH ULTRASOUND GUIDANCE
In addition to following the latest safety protocols, Dr. Agullo uses ultrasound-guided fat transfer for all BBL patients. This technology provides precision, allowing him to place fat exactly where it’s intended, enhancing both safety and aesthetic outcomes. Ultrasound guidance adds an extra layer of accuracy, aligning gluteal fat grafting with the highest standards of modern safety, and helping ensure optimal results.
As we celebrate this publication in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, we’re reminded of the importance of continued research, collaboration, and adherence to the latest guidelines. These findings affirm the demand for this transformative procedure and our commitment to performing it safely and responsibly. We’re excited to contribute to a safer future for BBL and look forward to further innovations that will continue to raise the bar in patient outcomes and safety.
Thank you to everyone involved in this journey—Dr. WorldWide and team are just getting started!
