What Are My Butt Augmentation Revision Options?
Augmentation With Implant or Implant Exchange
Butt implants come in various sizes and profiles to produce the ideal aesthetic and shape. Patients who underwent a previous BBL may want more volume but do not have enough donor fat. Patients who had a buttock augmentation procedure with implants may be unhappy with the size or projection of their bottom.
During buttock implant revision, Dr. Agullo can replace your implants to achieve a more desirable result.
Your implants may have been placed over the muscle, causing implant visibility or exaggerated movement. Dr. Agullo will use this opportunity to place your implants inside the muscle (intramuscular) to avoid these complications.
Buttock Lift
Patients who develop skin laxity, typically as a result of aging or weight fluctuations, may experience sagging in the buttocks area.
A buttock lift, which can be performed as part of a lower body lift or as a standalone procedure, can restore the butt to a smoother and more youthful appearance by removing excess tissue. Liposuction techniques can also be performed during this procedure to eliminate unwanted pockets of fat.
Dr. Agullo also performs the Miami Buttock Lift. With this procedure, Dr. Agullo can reshape the lower inner part of the buttocks, where women often develop excess skin and volume. This is often termed a “double butt” deformity.
Fat Transfer
If the initial Brazilian Butt Lift procedure is not performed carefully, some regions of the buttocks may retain more fat and produce asymmetrical or lumpy results.
A follow-up fat transfer surgery can help smooth the surface and augment areas that may have recessed. Fat transfer can also be used to conceal the edges of buttock implants for an inconspicuous enhancement.
Cellfina® or QWO®
You might still have cellulite after your BBL or buttock implants. By using Cellfina®, Dr. Agullo can divide the fibers pulling on your skin that create buttock dimpling. This procedure offers permanent correction of the dimpling from cellulite.
QWO® is an injection that dissolves the fibrous bands. Many refer to it as buttock Botox.
Non-surgical Buttock Augmentation
If there are small areas of volume deficiency, Dr. Agullo can use a combination of Sculptra® Aesthetic and PRP for non-surgical butt enhancement to provide more volume and symmetry. This can be done under local anesthesia with minimal, if any, downtime.
Non-surgical Skin Tightening
Skin tightening can be achieved in our MedSpa. Morpheus8 microneedling with radiofrequency tightens the skin, improves the appearance of stretch marks, and tightens the pores. InMode’s BodyTite® tightens skin using radiofrequency energy.

Recovery and Results After Butt Augmentation Revision
What Can I Expect for My Butt Augmentation Revision Recovery?
Patients who undergo secondary BBL or buttock implant revision may experience discomfort, bruising, and swelling following their procedure. These side effects are expected to dissipate considerably within a couple of weeks. It is recommended to drink plenty of water and eat lots of fruits and vegetables during recovery to help the healing process.
How Much Downtime Is Needed After a Butt Revision Procedure?
Typically, patients schedule two weeks off work, but those with physically intensive occupations will require more downtime. Dr. Agullo will provide you with detailed aftercare directions and a recovery timeline during your initial consultation.
When Will I See My Buttock Augmentation Revision Results?
You will see your butt augmentation revision results immediately after surgery. However, you will experience bruising and swelling that can affect the appearance of your results. You will need to wait for swelling to subside to experience your results fully.
Are the Results of Butt Augmentation Revision Permanent?
The results of your butt augmentation revision are intended to be permanent. However, natural aging and weight fluctuations may alter your results.
What Does Butt Augmentation Revision Cost?
The price of your butt augmentation revision will vary depending on the extent of treatment needed. The price of your procedure may be similar or more than the cost of an initial buttock augmentation procedure.
Dr. Agullo’s fees for an initial butt implant surgery total around $9,500. Brazilian Butt Lift with liposuction of one area is approximately $7,500, and each additional area liposuctioned is $2,000. These prices represent the minimum cost of the primary procedures, including anesthesia and surgical facility fees, medical tests, garments, and recovery products. The cost of prescription medications, however, is not included.

Will Insurance Cover the Cost of Butt Implants or BBL Revision?
Since revision butt enhancement is considered a cosmetic procedure, most insurance companies do not cover it. However, please contact your insurance company for more information on your policy.
Frequently Asked Questions About Butt Augmentation Revision
Revision buttock enhancement can help patients who:
- Desire larger or more prominent buttocks even after the initial augmentation surgery
- Notice that their results are asymmetrical or lumpy following buttock augmentation

Dr. Agullo likes to use solid silicone implants by AART, but he has also used implants by Spectrum Designs Medical and Silimed. The AART implants are soft and have a consistency similar to that of muscle.
Dr. Agullo prefers round butt implants, as most of his patients prefer a rounder buttock. Oval implants are available, but they can make the buttocks look long.
Implant size can go up to 712 cc (cubic centimeters), and custom implants can be made up to 800 cc.
This revision procedure is usually performed using general anesthesia, so you can expect a painless and safe surgical experience.
Since your butt augmentation revision will be performed using general anesthesia, you will not be able to drive yourself home. Please bring a responsible adult with you to your surgical appointment to drive you home.
Butt augmentation revision leaves small scars that are often easy to conceal. Scars will fade over time.
Following all aftercare instructions can help minimize the chance of experiencing complications, but all surgical procedures come with certain risks. Potential complications associated with buttock implant and BBL revision surgery may include:
