What Are the Benefits of a Thread Lift?
The thread lift can be ideal for anyone who wishes to:
- Reduce the appearance of loose skin along the jawline
- Lift sagging cheeks and jowls
- Tighten the neck
- Smooth out facial lines and wrinkles such as nasolabial folds
- Avoid surgery and an extensive recovery
- Enjoy subtle, natural-looking results
It is important to keep your expectations for your results realistic. A thread facelift is an alternative to surgery, but it cannot produce the same, dramatic results that a surgical facelift can. The thread lift procedure provides a subtle yet rejuvenating lift to the skin.

What Is the Thread Facelift Procedure?
A thread facelift uses very thin, biocompatible threads, which have been designed to dissolve and be safely absorbed by the body with time. Silhouette lnstaLift® threads are inserted and used to correct the appearance of aging by lifting and pinning the skin and stimulating collagen to tighten and smooth the skin.
At Agullo Plastic Surgery, tailored care begins with a full consultation to discuss the goals and options available.
Before & After
The procedure can be performed in a little as 45 minutes and consists of only a few steps:
Step 1:
A local anesthetic is applied to numb the area and ensure your comfort.
Step 2:
A cannula (thin tube) is used to insert the sutures (threads) into the deep layer of skin.
Step 3:
These threads are designed with barbs to grab onto tissue easily, and Dr. Agullo then pulls them taut to lift sagging skin.
Step 4:
Finally, the threads are attached in place to maintain the lift.
Have Other Concerns About a Thread Facelift?
What Can I Expect for My Thread Facelift Recovery?
Due to being a minimally invasive procedure, a thread facelift requires very little downtime. The procedure is done with local anesthetics, and most patients can drive themselves home the same day. There will be some mild swelling and soreness, which should subside within one to two days.
Is the Thread Facelift Painful?
During your procedure, a local anesthetic is used to help ensure your comfort. Following the procedure, there may be some slight soreness, but this pain can be easily managed with over-the-counter pain medications.
Will My Thread Facelift Leave Scars?
There is very little risk of scarring because the procedure is minimally invasive and does not use incisions. The sutures used to lift the skin are placed and attached discreetly, and any resulting scars are extremely small and difficult to detect.
When Will I See My Thread Facelift Results?
Your lifted facial skin will be visible immediately. Results will continue to improve as natural collagen is produced, which enhances the elasticity and volume of the skin for up to two years.

Frequently Asked Questions About Thread Facelift
While a thread facelift offers long-lasting results, the results will not be permanent. The collagen production activated by this procedure can boost the volume of your skin for up to two years. The thread lift suspends the loose skin, but because skin is not removed, it will eventually begin to migrate downward again once the sutures dissolve.
Yes, the thread lift procedure is considered safe. There are significantly fewer risks associated with the thread lift compared to a traditional facelift, including a reduced risk of scarring, bleeding, bruising, and infection.
Traditional facelift surgery rejuvenates the face by removing loose skin, rearranging the muscles, and tightening the remaining skin. A thread lift is a minimally invasive alternative that lifts the skin with internal hooked sutures, but it does not remove any skin or rearrange the placement of the muscles and, therefore, does not offer as dramatic or permanent results.
